the holstee manifesto

During my weekly blog-stalking I found this.
And just really liked it.
Everyone should have a manifesto.
And own a bike.

easton cade bennett

I finally got to meet my adorable godson, Easton Cade last week. He is the son of my very best friends, Kaylee and Cade Bennett. Easton is my first godson and second godchild- making me a very happy girl.

I am absolutely smitten by these little beans

(Now we just need to get the Bennetts to move a little further north. Ahem.)

home again home again

You know that old saying, "time flies when you're having fun" ?
It's true.

I was having a lot of fun over there in Costa Rica.

If you ever get the chance- go to Costa Rica.
Even if you don't get the chance- GO TO COSTA RICA. It is absolute paradise.

I didn't get the chance to blog while I was over there but I still want to share my stories with you
...
aaaand I wouldn't really mind reliving those six weeks
...
So if you've been dying to see what paradise is like
I will be posting my stories on that blog I told you about as I sift through all of my pictures and the journal I sometimes meticulously kept.

So go ahead and strap on your Tevas, spray on some (lots of) bug spray and get ready to enjoy the ride!
(Oh and you might want a rain jacket.)

it's time

for another adventure!

I'm packing my bags and heading south- waaaay south- to

for six weeks. To save sea turtles. Because I'm into that kind of stuff.

I'm not sure what my internet/computer situation will be down there but if I can I will be posting my stories and pictures on this blog. Hope to see you there! Adios!

miles miles miles

As a late birthday present to myself I took a little vacation last week to visit this sweet girl

Olivia Corya

I met this smashing photo journalist from Bloomington, Indiana in Africa last summer-

where we went on the greatest adventure of my whole stay there, cooked American food, exchanged the punniest jokes you've ever heard, and listened to nothing but the best music.

So what did we do while I was in Bloomington?
Well, just the exact same thing.

Olivia is one of the most quality human beings you could ever meet.
She taught me how to love Ghana, how to be a truly good friend and person, and how to cook up some mean caramelized carrots.
In other words, it was a pretty good time.

waffles and frites

here's a little must-try for you to cap off that summer bucket list-
(my guiltiest pleasure)
the combination you can see above is a vanilla liege waffle with fresh peaches
but really, you can't go wrong
and it's ok to lick the cardboard tray when your waffle's gone- you wouldn't be the first

little rascals

Please- just imagine walking out to your car at five in the morning and finding this on your windshield:

I honestly thought my car was going to blow up when I turned on the engine.

a short reprieve

For four days last week I got to turn off my cell phone, lay aside my jobs, check out of the world, throw on the Tevas and go here- the greatest place on earth-
Lake Powell.

the boy who lived

For many of us, last week marked the end of an era.
Kind of the unofficial end of our childhood.
And a very official end to any more midnight premiers for this old girl.

I read my first Harry Potter book in 1999.
12 years, seven books, and eight movies later I still love it.
It was an honor growing up with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the DA.
Thank you, JK Rowling, for such a grand adventure.
